Our Beliefs
Rooted in Love, Guided by Faith: What We Believe at Grace UCC
Our Beliefs
At Grace United Church of Christ in Milwaukee, our beliefs are rooted in love, justice, and the life-giving presence of God. We are a covenant community called to follow Jesus Christ and live out our faith with compassion, courage, and hope.
We Believe in...
God
We believe in God, who calls the worlds into being and sets before us the way of life.
- Creates humankind in the divine image
- Seeks to save all people from aimlessness and sin
- Judges all nations with righteous love through prophets and apostles
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, our crucified and risen Lord who shared our human lot.
- Conquers sin and death
- Invites us to share his passion, victory, and abundant grace
- Conquers sin and death
The Holy Spirit and the Church
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who unites and renews the Church across ages and cultures.
- Creates and sustains Christ’s body in the world
- Binds faithful people in covenant
- Empowers us to serve, proclaim the gospel, and resist evil
God’s Promises
We believe in God’s promises to all who trust the good news.
- Forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace
- Courage to seek justice and peace
- The Spirit’s presence in joy and trial
The Holy Trinity
We believe in the Holy Trinity—Creator, Christ, and Spirit—one God in three persons.
- Creator of all that is
- Resurrected Christ, sole Head of the Church
- Creator of all that is
Holy Trinity
Creator, resurrected Christ, the sole Head of the church, and the Holy Spirit, who guides and brings about the creative and redemptive work of God in the world.

Holy Bible
The Bible is the great book, above all others. It is not a god itself, or an idol to be worshipped. It is God’s holy word for us as Christians and we are called to take it seriously, but not literally.

Baptism
We believe in the baptism of infants, children and adults. We believe baptism can be done by either sprinkling or immersion.

Holy Communion
We believe that all are welcome to the communion table. We believe the breaking of bread and the drinking of wine remind us of the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf.
